The Des Plaines Forest Preserve surrounds the Des Plaines River and spans most of the eastern border of the city. Des Plaines Public Library Des Plaines Theater Deval Crossing interlocking tower is a very popular spot for train enthusiasts, as one Canadian National and two Union Pacific railways all meet in a triangular pattern. Metra trains run on two of the routes.
